ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to raise the issue of Afghan refugees participating in the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), reported a local media outlet.

Pakistan has decided to raise the issue with UNHCR to curtail the participation of Afghan refugees in political activities, especially in PTM rallies.

Hundreds of Afghan refugees have taken part in PTM rallies across the country, according to reports.

On the requests of UNHCR and the Afghan government, the Government of Pakistan had allowed Afgan refugees to stay in the country till June, this year.

Meanwhile, 0.8 million undocumented Afghan refugees have been registered by the government so far. These refugees have been documented in light of the Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) project.

Under the tripartite agreement signed between governments of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the UNHCR, at least 4.3 million Afghan refugees have been sent back home.…ugees-participation-in-ptm-with-unhcr-report/
